A rare antique benetier carved from solid Belgian Blue limestone, presenting a powerful architectural presence and a distinctive oxidised patina.
The design reveals a striking duality:
The rear section remains a raw, organic stone mass — preserving its geological character.
The front section transitions into a finely carved semi-circular basin framed by rhythmic, classical relief detailing.
This contrast between untouched mineral block and refined carving gives the piece exceptional sculptural tension.
The surface has naturally oxidised over time, developing a deep anthracite-grey tone with subtle lighter mineral inclusions and visible natural veining. This oxidation gives the stone a uniquely layered colour that shifts between graphite, charcoal and soft blue-grey depending on the light.
The basin itself is gently rounded, with a thick carved rim and a compact interior depth — making it perfectly suited for:
– Luxury powder rooms
– High-end guest restrooms
– Boutique hospitality interiors
– Architectural statement wash areas
– Monastic or wabi-sabi inspired spaces
At 68 kg, the piece carries true material authority. It is not merely decorative — it is sculptural architecture in functional form.
A devotional object transformed into a contemporary design statement.
Timeless. Textural. Authentic.
