Exceptional Pair of Antique French Wrought Iron Wall Lantern Brackets – Château Quality 120 cm

This exceptional pair of original antique French wrought iron wall lantern brackets combines monumental scale with unusually elaborate decorative workmanship. The two matching brackets form a complementary mirrored pair designed to project a lantern prominently away from the façade.

Their construction is structured around powerful C- and S-scrolls, arranged in multiple overlapping layers. Between them unfolds a dense composition of stylised foliage, acanthus-like leaves, tendrils and floral forms, creating a highly sculptural rather than merely flat decorative design.

Particularly striking is the transition between the structural iron framework and the finer botanical ornament. Broad modelled leaves alternate with more delicate curling elements that wrap around the principal arms. Visible historic joints and attachment points reinforce the handcrafted nature of the ironwork.

At the projecting end of each bracket hangs an elaborate pendant composed of layered leaf and flower forms. This suspended ornament creates a strong vertical counterpoint to the large horizontal projection and gives the design an elegant sense of movement.

The 100 cm high wall mounting section is itself an important part of the composition. Its rectilinear geometric pattern, with meandering forms and curled terminals, contrasts beautifully with the free-flowing foliate decoration of the bracket.
