A rare, compact original from 19th-century France, hand-carved in three solid blocks of Burgundy hard stone (Pierre de Bourgogne). The linear profile with a gently cambered lintel reads calm and architectural; the two-tone palette—cool pearl/blue-grey meeting warm sand-beige on the jamb returns—adds depth without ornament. The surface is smooth with superb, authentic imperfections that tell its age.
At 131 cm (w) × 97.5 cm (h) with a 108 × 85 cm fire opening and a 36 cm shelf depth, the proportions are ideal for refined living rooms, reception spaces, studies or offices where luxury needs to feel effortless. This surround bridges styles beautifully: pair it with textural linens and pale timber for a light country or “slow living” mood, or contrast it with patinated metals and art for a timeless eclectic, modern-historic blend.
Installation is straightforward: three blocks (lintel + 2 jambs) allow precise, clean fitting on site. Compatible with a traditional masonry firebox or Isokern modular units. Some sensitive restorations were completed by an expert stonemason; wear is consistent with age and use. Easy to coordinate with a wide range of floors, brick or stone firebacks, and iron or brass andirons.
