Old Cast Iron Fireplace Inner Frame with Wreath and Beading – 142 cm

This original old cast iron fireplace inner frame brings balanced proportions and French-inspired ornament to a marble or stone mantel. Measuring 142 cm wide, it fills the space between the decorative surround and the firebox, reducing the opening while creating a distinctive architectural border.

An open foliate wreath centres the broad upper panel, tied with a ribbon bow and flanked by spreading leafy branches. Delicate beading traces the outer border and rectangular inner opening. Near the base, stepped mouldings frame small rosettes above plain plinths. The symmetry and restrained ornament evoke the French neoclassical decorative tradition.

Broad, gently curved surfaces sweep inward, creating depth and changing reflections. The black-to-anthracite finish reveals the fine casting texture, while highlights pick out the raised foliage and moulded edges. White marble provides a crisp contrast; warm beige limestone produces a softer, more understated combination.
