Louis XVI Style Cast Iron Fireplace Inner Frame, 86 cm

This original antique cast iron fireplace inner frame brings decorative detail and French character to a marble or stone mantel. Measuring 86 cm wide, it fills the space between the mantel and the firebox, reducing the visible opening while creating a carefully defined architectural transition. Its almost square outer proportions surround a tall, rectangular aperture.

The ornament recalls the Louis XVI style. Floral swags stretch across the upper panel, suspended from flowing ribbon bows. Musical trophies decorate the uprights, combining instrument motifs with foliage and ribbons in balanced arrangements. Small stylised leaf ornaments sit above the plain plinths, while narrow moulded borders frame the decorative panels.

The black finish catches soft charcoal highlights across the raised decoration. These reflections give the flowers and instruments visual depth, even within the frame’s shallow 6 cm profile. Paired with white marble, the iron creates a crisp contrast; against warm limestone, it takes on a softer, more rustic presence.

Its orderly outline works beautifully alongside modern furniture, while the detailed relief complements an eclectic interior with contemporary art. Wear and surface marks are consistent with age and use. Old cast iron may be slightly twisted. The height can be adapted by agreement to suit the customer’s requirements.
