French Buxy Stone Planter – Hand-Carved Natural Stone 128 cm

This characterful French Buxy stone planter is carved from solid natural stone, combining restrained elongated proportions with the unmistakable texture of traditionally worked French stone.

Buxy stone is appreciated for its warm and nuanced colouring. In this example, the surface ranges from soft beige and sandy tones to subtle pink, taupe and pale ochre, complemented by natural mineral variations and occasional darker inclusions.

The exterior faces are relatively restrained, while the interior clearly reveals traces of hand carving and traditional stone working. The uneven texture of the inner walls, gently irregular upper edge and naturally weathered surfaces give the piece an authentic architectural presence.

A small existing opening can be seen in one of the long sides, while another opening is present in the base, making it practical for drainage when used as a planter. These details form part of the existing character of the piece.

At 128 cm long, it has sufficient scale to function as an architectural object in its own right. It can be placed on a terrace, patio or courtyard, beside a swimming pool or within a Mediterranean garden, while also working particularly well in contemporary landscapes where natural materials provide contrast.

Buxy stone has long been valued in French architecture and harmonises especially well with the natural-stone vocabulary found in high-end developments along the Côte d’Azur and in Monaco. Its warm understated colouring pairs beautifully with limestone, terracotta, aged flooring, rendered walls, concrete and metal.

Weighing 140 kg, this planter has a substantial presence while remaining visually refined.

A distinctive natural-stone element for gardens, terraces and architectural projects seeking authentic French material and a quiet Mediterranean character.
