Old Cast Iron Fireplace Inner Frame with Putti Medallions – 118 cm

This original old cast iron fireplace inner frame combines figurative ornament with a softly rounded outline. Measuring 118 cm wide, it fills the space between a marble or stone mantel and the firebox, reducing the opening while adding an expressive decorative border.

A central medallion depicting two putti anchors the upper section. Its shaped cartouche and scrolling details lead into a fine diamond lattice extending across the surrounding panels. Oval medallions on the uprights each contain a child figure, continuing the decorative theme down both sides. Narrow ornamental bands trace the outer edge and inner opening, while plain plinths provide a quiet base beneath the detailed casting.

The gently arched upper line, rounded corners and curved surfaces create a flowing profile. Light catches the raised figures and lattice against the black-to-anthracite finish, giving the decoration depth and definition. White marble creates a crisp contrast, while warm beige limestone brings out a softer relationship between metal and stone.
